Intro:

Ross Goodwin is an artist, creative technologist, hacker, gonzo data scientist, and writer of writers. Goodwin is a graduate of NYU ITP & MIT and a former Obama administration ghostwriter. He employs machine learning, natural language processing and other computational tools to realize new forms and interfaces for written language.

Selected AI projects by Goodwin:

Technologist Ross Goodwin takes his creative writing, artificial intelligence robot car across-country to write its version of the American literary road trip. What does creative authorship mean for A.I.?
Behind the scenes of Please Feed the Lions by Es Devlin, a public installation combining design, poetry and artificial intelligence at London Design Festival 2018. Cast in 1867, the four monumental lions in Trafalgar Square have been sitting silently at the base of Nelson's Column for the past 150 years.
In the wake of Google's AI Go victory, filmmaker Oscar Sharp turned to his technologist collaborator Ross Goodwin to build a machine that could write screenplays. They created "Jetson" and fueled him with hundreds of sci-fi TV and movie scripts.
ARTISTIC COLLABORATION WITH AN A.I. (SPONSORED BY LG) Learn how artificial intelligence (A.I.) is being used in unique ways to shape the entertainment of tomorrow, including collaborating with an A.I. to write screenplays.
NYU ITP alumni Ross Goodwin discusses his use of AI and Long Short Term Memory Networks to generate poetry in a system he invented called Lexiconjur. By training these neural networks on large bodies of written text, these computational models are able to develop a type of voice or individual perspective that becomes visible in a complete written work or poem.
Join Benjamin, AI screenwriter of Sunspring, along with his human chaperones Oscar Sharp & Ross Goodwin, as they explore the potential of writing machines and augmented creativity.
In this day and age, just how useful are "writers" anyway? The filmmakers behind 'Sunspring' have come back with a new short starring David Hasselhoff, Tom Payne, Tim Guinee, Sarah Hay, and Jake Broder. Once again, they've enlisted the help of "Benjamin," an A.I. programmed by Ross Goodwin to write screenplays.
A sci-fi short film written and directed by Benjamin, an AI.
In 2016, Benjamin wrote a script called Sunspring (http://www.thereforefilms.com/sunspring.html), which we made into a short film featuring Thomas Middleditch (star of HBO's Silicon Valley). It caused quite a stir. Not so much because of the mysterious storyline or the garish gold costumes. But because Benjamin is a machine.
